Abingdon and Witney Business Boot Camp 15th – 16th January 2013

We welcomed year 13 Business students from Abingdon and Witney College to take part in a Boot Camp. They were split into four groups and set the task:

‘market the boot camp experience to an unfamiliar audience’

The popularity of the activities was only overtaken by the anticipation of the pig roast dinner which is becoming a hallmark of the camps. From 5.00am the pig was roasted over an open fire, being rotated at a stately 3rpm by our 1929 Lister engine. When after 14hours cooking the time arrived to carve and serve we were joined by guests to share and enjoy the feast.

These teams worked late into the night firstly on the tasks and secondly on the marketing presentation, under the guidance of tutors from the college and the group leader Suzy who was full of advice and observations no matter what the hour.

Day two soon was swallowed up and it was off to the barn for presentations to our panel.

Without exception the groups had understood the task and delivered a high quality plan, all good enough to be taken into the field. The panel were finding it difficult to arrive at a decision for this round of the Oxford Enterprise award, but were eventually unanimous that ‘Team Experience’ had the best overall presentation.
